An Update

(as of 2002 - when JFL was originally published)

              It has been over seven years since Ryan died.  Our family is still together, loving one another, enjoying God’s goodness.  Kari is fifteen years old and developmentally has made few advances.  She has been through many trials, one of which was a six-month stretch in the hospital, during which time the majority of this book was written.  There have been times when we almost lost her.  Every birthday celebration is filled with rejoicing that God has allowed yet another year with her as part of our family.   Jeremy is seven years old and continues to develop normally.  He is precious to us.

              Loie did get married and moved away, five months after Ryan died and no longer needed her.  God’s timing is perfect.  We were honored to play significant roles in Loie’s wedding.  She now lives in Reading, PA with her husband Ivan.  They have three very beautiful children: Jonathan, Mikaela and Elizabeth.  They remain good friends and we’ll always be grateful for Loie’s love of our children.

              After almost nine years of ministry in Red Hill, we resigned to take on yet another ministry assignment.  Leaving Red Hill was very difficult for us, but we are thrilled the church at Red Hill is doing well.  We enjoy every opportunity we have to visit with these dear people.

              We presently serve as Minister to Field Staff with RHMA – a pastor-to-pastors position with this mission to small towns (mostly here in the United States).  For most of the year we live in a 30’ travel trailer, which is our home.  Life on the road with a severely disabled child, home schooling a second grader – each has its challenges.  God continues to stretch us, to teach us and he gives us joy in the new lands into which he leads us.
